Make 2015
the year you get
more involved.
T
he year 2014 was an exciting one for
LTEN and its members. We changed our
name to the Life Sciences Trainers &
Educators Network, we revamped our
emphasis to become a place where trainers find
Community, Clarity and Career resources; and
we developed new offerings like the LTEN
Excellence Awards and Networking Mixers.
With all that momentum, you might think it
would be time for a period of quiet reflection.
But that's not how we roll at LTEN.
ere's more change in the air in 2015,
beginning with new leadership. I was honored
to start 2015 as the new executive director of
LTEN, and I am thrilled to be working with
some new members of the Board of Directors
to help guide us. We were handed the reins of a
spirited and thriving organization, and you'll
see that spirit continue to take shape.
I tip my hat to Kevin Kruse, our outgoing
director. Under Kevin's leadership, the
organization grew in membership, added
offerings and found a new identity. Although
Kevin is no longer part of the LTEN staff, he is
still part of our LTEN family and we wish him
luck on his new endeavors.
I've met many of you at our events and
through our publications. Let me introduce
some other leaders you hopefully already know.
LTEN added five new board members on
January 1, strengthening our emphasis in the
medical device and diagnostic arena with the
addition of:
* Patrick D'Amico, director of sales training,
cardiac and vascular group, Medtronic;
* Connie Murray, director, sales training and
clinical education, B. Braun Medical; and
* Jennifer Wolfgram, vice president,
commercial education, Roche Diagnostics.
e board was also expanded in the
pharmaceutical and biotech spaces with the
addition of:
* Amy Macchietto, senior director, U.S.
commercial training, Biogen Idec; and
* Corey Padovano, director, commercial
learning & development, Gilead Sciences.
We are lucky to have the depth of training
and education leadership of 19 professionals on
our board. To learn more about the board

In addition, we added new members to the
Advisory Council in 2014 and 2015, including
our most recent addition, Chris Deluzio,
executive director, commercial execution
excellence, diabetes, AstraZeneca. e deep
expertise of our board and advisory council
allows LTEN to be hard-wired to the training
and education community.
Getting Involved
LTEN is here to serve our members. at's a
mission you can be a part of. Make 2015 the
year you get more involved. Here are some
ways to do that:
* Reach out to a board or advisory council
member and build your network.
* Consider contributing an article for Focus
magazine or the online Bonus Focus
magazine or participating in (or speaking
on) a webinar.
* Join the LTEN LinkedIn groups and let us
know what's on your mind.
* Most importantly, help grow the LTEN
network by inviting a colleague to join.
I'm looking forward to working for you, and
to seeing you at one of our 2015 events, live or
online. I hope you will be an active participant
in the LTEN Network. We need people like
you, and LTEN is like any endeavor: You get
out of it what you put into it. I
