Once the four elements have been actively
introduced to sales leaders, the process of coaching
them to their direct reports opens up the kind of
leader/follower communication that builds trusting
relationships. e goal map, for instance, is a tool
that not only highlights specific individual goals
along a journey toward a pinnacle goal, it is a mechanism
for leaders to use to coach development, discover alternative
motivational sources, and to provide resource assistance at
strategic points along the journey. In addition, a sales team
leader will begin to see how each follower's goal map
includes individual goals that feed into the overall team's
success and builds collective focus as a result.
e new corporate landscape is not a dead end! Rather,
it's an opportunity to provide the kind of professional
development that equips sales people with a renewed
perspective.
