GXPTRACK New GxP Track: Reaching More Life Sciences Trainers ■ By John Constantine LTEN must transition to stay in step with industry needs. M embers of LTEN who have been around sales and marketing training for a period of time are used to high quality, relevant contributions of topics in Focus, on the LTEN webinars and at the annual conference and mixers, workshops and other networking opportunities. But the life sciences industry is growing and changing, and of course LTEN must transition to stay in step with industry needs. One of those shis is happening at this year's 45th LTEN Annual Conference, with the addition of a new conference workshop track, "Discovery to Commercialization," which will help grow LTEN and the offerings LTEN can bring to life sciences organizations. Merck & The "G" stands for "Good", and the "P" stands for Practices. The "x" stands for various other standards we all have to follow. Co. and the Life Science Training Institute are co-sponsoring this track with LTEN. e Discovery to Commercialization track is aimed at the audience of training professionals who operate in R&D, Medical Affairs, Manufacturing, Quality, Safety and other technical functions. While these professionals enjoy learning about the same topics in Instructional Design, Technology in Learning, Management & Leadership, etc., the context of the functions is different than in sales and marketing. ese functions are almost always highly regulated by various agencies and therefore have to operate under strict rules of doing jobs and training, called GxP. e "G" stands for "Good", and the "P" stands for Practices. e "x" stands for various other standards we all have to follow. Here are some examples: * Good Clinical Practices - GcP * Good Manufacturing Practices - GmP * Good Laboratory Practices - GlP ese GxP types are governed by standards authored by various global trade organizations and recognized by the various agencies across the globe. Adherence to these standards is nonnegotiable. In fact in our industry, during the conduct of clinical trials, root-cause analysis shows that quality issues found during inspections by auditors or inspectors are very oen caused by lack of adherence to basic GcP principles.
