here does time go? How many times do you ask yourself that question? I am looking at the calendar and realizing it is almost 2013. Thinking back, although this was a rough and busy year, it was also a fulfilling year both personally and professionally. Dealing with the aftermath of the storm on the East Coast — on top of trying to balance the daily tasks of work and life — hasn’t been easy, and I’m quickly realizing there is still so much left to do this year!

These individuals received recognition and their awards during the business luncheon portion of the annual conference. We wish you all the best. In “Leadership Skills: Professional Ethics — a Road to Discovery,” Diane Meldi discusses what it means to be a leader and how to develop those skills. We also hear from another leader in the article appearing on page 14. In this response letter, current NAMSS President Connie Riedel addresses Hugh Greeley and a point on which he and NAMSS respectfully disagree. Check out the article to see NAMSS’ stance on a crucial issue in this industry. Our last industry feature for this year showcases Darlene Graham who received recognition for her years of attention and detail to bylaws — an essential element to MSPs and credentialing. It is quite apparent that Darlene’s medical staff cherishes her and the value she offers her medical staff leadership. We are only as strong as our leaders and our bylaws. Please take some time to read these articles to learn more about your role as an MSP and how it has evolved and keeps on evolving. It’s been a pleasure leading SYNERGY, and I look forward to watching it evolve. Thank you for this experience throughout the last year.
