Year in Review

D
uring the past year, NAMSS has
continued to pursue our mission
of driving the professional
development and industry-wide
recognition of MSPs. 2013 has been a
strong year for the organization, from the
launch of a comprehensive NAMSS social
media presence, to deepening our
industry-wide professional partnerships, to
an outstanding annual conference.
NAMSS membership saw significant
growth from 2009-2012. We are thrilled
to report that in 2013, we surpassed the
5,000-member mark-5,102, to be exact!
The medical services world is growing, and
our increasing membership reflects that
growth. As the field evolves, NAMSS also

continues to seek new members through
cooperative membership agreements with
organizations like the American Health
Lawyers Association (AHLA).
The number of CPCS and CPMSM
certificants remained steady in 2013,
ending the year at 4,929. In an effort
to ensure the continuing relevance and
reliability of the certification exams, the
Certification Commission of NAMSS
(CCN) has developed updated exam
blueprints that better reflect the work that
MSPs conduct on a daily basis. The new
CPMSM exam blueprint was introduced
during the spring 2013 testing window,
and the new CPCS blueprint will be
introduced in 2014.
Our Educational conference & Exhibition
is always one of the highlights of the year.
This year, the NAMSS 37th Educational
Conference & Exhibition attracted 1,719
total attendees, representing our secondhighest attendance ever. During this time
of tight budgets and cuts to staff travel
expenses, this is a remarkable achievement.
We are so pleased that the event continues
to provide MSPs with a valuable learning
and networking experience tailored to their
specific space in the healthcare industry.
The program committee is now hard at
work on planning the 38th Educational
Conference & Exhibition, which will be
held in New Orleans. We hope you're all
planning to join us for a fantastic event in
the Big Easy!
