he number one professional social media and
networking site, with more than 190 million users
in the United States and 830 million worldwide (as
of June 2022), officially launched in May 2003 as a digital
networking and employment site for professionals.
Fast forward almost two decades, and the platform has
evolved well beyond its origins as basically a digital job
board. On today's LinkedIn, account holders can search
for, view profiles of, and make connections with other
users; request and provide recommendations; post
status updates and respond to others'; discuss topics of
interest; hold online events; create and publicize offline
events; join and participate in industry, market sector
or interest groups; and write and publish content,

including articles, as well as post photos and videos.
LinkedIn offers a version of all this functionality to users
for free, as well as additional tools with a premium
(paid) membership.
The site is the place to see and be seen-for two
reasons.
First, your potential clients and referral sources
are there. How do I know? LinkedIn has 149 industry
categories. Based on the number of users who identified
their industry, Law Practice was number 39 as of January
2022. In the top 20, we have: Hospital & Health Care (2);
Construction (3); Financial Services (6); Accounting (7);
