NEWS BIG PICTURE May 2015 Changing Gears 8 In order for OneTen Cycles bike shop in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, to become one of Trek Bicycle's concept stores, a complete renovation of the shop was needed. OneTen Cycles owner Tom Wichelmann, who happens to have a contact at 3M Graphics, decided to ask for consultation on what could be done graphically to enhance the appearance of his "new" store - both interior and exterior, including an 11 x 35-foot lifestyle mural. After the vision was created and graphics designed, print shop Modernistic ( in Stillwater, Minnesota, was called in for printing with 3M supplying the media. The print shop used its Durst Rho 600 flatbed UV printer on various media including 3M Envision Print Wrap Film LX480Cv3, Envision Luster Wrap Overlaminate 8549L, Controltac Graphic Film IJ180, Scotchcal Matte Overlaminate 8520, Scotchcal Clear View Graphic Film IJ8150, Scotchcal Optically Clear Overlaminate 8914, Controltac Print Film 40C-10R, and Scotchcal Luster Overlaminate 8509. Modernistic selected and hired the installation company after consulting 3M's Joe Walton, a technical services specialist. Walton conducted a wall test to help select an adhesive substrate for the walls' painted surface.
