TO THE NEXT GENERATION
In this issue of Brand Experience magazine, we take a look at the future generations of
consumers. In our CXO spotlight, we talk with Chris Cornyn. An active and respected member
of the Brand Experience community, Cornyn's career has touched on nearly every discipline
in brand communication. His varied career has led him to the role of chief innovation officer
at Before Brands, Inc. for SpoonfulOne, where he is working with two spectacular women in
STEM. Ashley Dombkowski has a Ph.D. in mathematics from Rice University and is the former
chief business officer at 23andMe; Dr. Kari Nadeau earned her M.D. and Ph.D. from Harvard
Medical School and is one of the nation's foremost experts in adult and pediatric allergy and
asthma-leading a team of scientists as director of the Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy and
Asthma Research at Stanford University. The trio is working to create awareness about oral
immunotherapy's potential to prevent child and adult deaths from allergic reactions. Read

We also take a look at the growing importance of Generation Z as a target market. In a one-toone interview with Shahla Hebets, author of What's Working Now? YOU-Centric Marketing, we
explore how brands can better connect with Generation Z, which already comprises a quarter
of the global population and has matured to include shoppers aged seven to 22. Read more on
page 17.
The conversation continues with the final installment of The List (page 24), where we
explore Gen Z expectations that forecast the consumers of the future, specifically the social
responsibility challenges that are expected to matter most to the consumers of 2030.
It's an exciting time to work in branding and innovation, and we look forward to learning
more about the societal, market and technologies driven by Gen Z's and
Generation Alpha's demands, needs and unique perspectives.
