Born of the investigation and sampling of water from the countries where the best blends and malts in the world are made, William Wallace's formulation and mineralization is designed to wake up and highlight all the scents and flavors of whisky. DEL SUR BEVERAGES Quilmes Cristal Aluminum Bottle For: Quilmes BEVERAGES Submitted by: Quilmes Made by: Quilmes IAE Estrella del Sur 2014 www.packaging.com.ar Instituto Argentino del Envase Aquarius For: The Coca-Cola Company The bottle is constructed from aluminum and litho-printed with a special ink that was later exposed to ultraviolet light. The bottle art changes in different lighting conditions, showing one design in normal lighting conditions and a different design when exposed to ultraviolet light. Submitted by: Teckdes Made by: FEMSA-EDASA DISPLAY (IAE) created the Estrella del Sur Stackable Display Box Awards to promote packaging For: Arcor innovation in Argentina and recognize the industry's current achievements. The winning packages, which will be announced in late November 2014, qualify for the World Packaging Organization's WorldStar Awards. A sampling of submissions from this year's contest is spotlighted here. Submitted by: Cartocor Made by: Cartocor This colorful box is filled with the product and is ready for display at retail. Retailers can use the attractive cases to form islands, create leading edge or cross-display towers. To enable consumer access to the product, retailers need only to tear away the perforated topand-front panel area. The cases are offset-printed in four color plus varnish and then laminated. BEVERAGES Design and development firm Teckdes created the structural design for CocaCola brand Aquarius to refresh the brand identity while reducing up to 25% of the bottle weight. The strategic approach was centered on a commitment to sustainable packaging while achieving an appealing and high performance bottle design. The lightweight structure was carried out through collaborative team work supported by modern computer-aided design and engineering solutions. This contribution not only helps reduce the use of virgin PET resin, which is derived of oil, but also saves energy during the production process. 38 2014 ANNUAL AWARDS ISSUE The package has a panelless design that leverages the deformation from hot filling bottle as part of the bottle design. The result is an ergonomic bottle, with a rib design that optimizes a filled bottle's weight distribution.
