The Illusion of Fitness
British pavement artists Joe Hill and Max Lowry, also known as “3D Joe and Max,” broke two world records last year by creating the largest and longest mural in the world. Sponsored by Reebok and CrossFit athletic brands, the duo (along with a few extra hands) created a 9,601sq.-ft. mural in London’s Canary Wharf district (West India Quay) to beat two Guinness World Records despite windy, rainy weather. “Normally, when we create this kind of picture, it’s about 18 m2, and it takes about four days. This is more than 1,000 m2, and we’ve got a week. It’s probably one of the most epic tasks I’ve ever undertaken,” Hill said in a YouTube video. The team even had to make the mural larger and longer at the last minute, when a competing team across the globe was rumored to be working on a similar project. They worked long days and through several nights to finish the project. CrossFit is a popular fitness program that focuses on core strength and conditioning. Several exercise machines designed for these workouts, which were perched on the edges of the mural, create the illusion that athletes were precariously dangling over a ravine. Reebok recently partnered with CrossFit to launch a new campaign called “The sport of fitness has arrived.”

Note: This year, we completely revamped our printed Buyers Guide, which co-mailed with our March issue. We started from scratch, and emailed everyone listed in last year’s printed Buyers Guide. We didn’t automatically include anyone. Everyone who is listed has been confirmed in some way. But, consequently, many companies previously listed don’t appear this year. You’re now listed there, both in the overall alphabetical listing, and under your specific product categories. We hope you like the new look.
