Mutoh Announces Three
Marketing Appointments
Mutoh America, Inc. (Phoenix) has
revamped its marketing and communications department with David
Conrad as the director of marketing,
Michelle Johnson as corporate events
and communications manager, and
Joseph Anderson as marketing
coordinator. Working under the
guidance of general manager Brian
Phipps, Conrad will oversee Mutoh’s
North and South American marketing efforts, through enhancing
brand image, creating creative
promotions and working closely
with resellers and customers in an
effort to grow both regions.
Johnson’s main focus will be
creating and implementing corporate
events, including tradeshows, open
houses and training classes at Mutoh’s
learning facilities. She will continue
to operate public-relations aspects
of the marketing department, including press relations, social media and
email communications. Anderson
will continue to support the marketing
team through web maintenance
and working closely with the product
team to assist in customer demonstrations and print jobs. Conrad,

Arlon Expansion/Relocation
Nearly Doubles Manufacturing
Arlon Graphics LLC (Santa Ana, CA)
has completed an 18-month project
to relocate and nearly double the
size of its manufacturing facility in
Placentia (Orange County), CA.
The new facility increases capacity,
improves material flow, and includes
a $7 million, state-of-the-art, adhesive-coating line; new ERP & CRM
software; energy-efficient lighting,
air, and water systems; and upgraded
environmental controls for its mixing
and coating operations.
Arlon, a 55-year-old company,

Rich Gottwald, the executive VP of the Intl. Sign Assn.
(ISA), and second in command under president and
CEO Lori Anderson, left the organization August 27
to become president and CEO of the Assn. of Pool &
Spa Professionals (APSP). Rich has been with ISA for
six years.

Certified by Color-Logic
The Mimaki (Suwanee, GA)
JV400LX Series of wide-format latex
printers has been certified by ColorLogic (West Chester, OH) for use
with its Process Metallic Color
System. The Mimaki white ink
enables graphic designers to block
the effect of metallic substrates
where the metallic effect is not
desired. The Color-Logic software
creates the necessary white-ink
masks to significantly reduce design
time, and the Color-Logic visualization software enables designers
to accurately assess their metallic
designs without expensive on-press
test prints, Color-Logic states.

MacDonald to VP of marketing.
Previously, he led the Nazdar Ltd.

experience, MacDonald will primarily focus on developing and

internationally.

Jeff Tanielian (1956-2013)
Jeff Tanielian, the founder and owner of Commercial Neon, a Fresno,
CA signshop, was killed July 18 in a motorcycle accident. He was 57.
The former president of the California Sign Assn. was well known for
restoring and preserving neon signs. Among the company's more notable
signs is the 85-ft. Tachi Palace casino sign installed in Lemoore in 1997.
A Fresno native, Jeff began pinstriping and painting signs as a
teenager, and painted store windows with Christmas displays with his
aunt, Helen Torigian. Early in his career, Jeff worked for Arnold Signs
and Ed Antenucci Signs, where he he learned about neon and other
types of electric signs. He later purchased Ward Sign and Graphics,
and eventually transformed it into Commercial Neon.
