My Australian pen pal (for over 50 years!) and I began planning a trip
together in the summer of 2014 to celebrate our 60th birthdays and her 40th
wedding anniversary. The plan was for both couples to cruise Alaska
together. Our AAA Travel Agent, Corri Besier, from the AAA Kinston
office, began helping my husband and me plan things on our end, while my
friend Cheryl, worked with a travel agent in Australia. We had chosen our
cruise and booked flights when sadly, Cheryl received a cancer diagnosis.
Surgery and chemo were to replace her August cruise.
We had already committed and invested so much, so my husband and I
decided to adjust and shorten our cruise. We promised to try again whenever
Cheryl was able. And we did!
In 2017, Corri helped us plan a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands,
completing our bucket list and much wished-for trip with our Australian
friends! It was an amazing and memorable time for all of us, made special by
the gift of Cheryl's current health and Corri's ability to give us insider info in
planning, since she grew up in Hawaii!
We will return to Corri and AAA for our next special travel - whenever
and wherever it takes us!
