Cities We Love

Toronto, Canada

As the provincial capital of Ontario and Canada's
most populous city, Toronto is a thriving hub for arts,
entertainment, business and sports. Known for its
multicultural diversity, towering high-rises and natural
beauty, the city attracts visitors from all over the world.
Views & History
A great place to start your Toronto adventure is an
attraction that also provides some of the most
spectacular views of the city and Lake Ontario. At 1,815
feet tall, the CN Tower is the tallest free-standing
structure in the Western Hemisphere. The iconic
building offers dining, as well as the thrilling EdgeWalk,
where you can walk along the outside ledge of the
tower while attached to an overhead safety rail.
While at the CN Tower, don't miss Ripley's
Aquarium of Canada next door, which boasts more
than 16,000 exotic inhabitants. Interactive,
underwater exhibits provide an up-close look at these
beautiful and mysterious creatures, including jellyfish,
giant lobsters, sharks and stingrays. Another great
option for exploring the natural world, along with
cultural history and art, is the Royal Ontario Museum,
in the University of Toronto district. Here you can
examine fascinating artifacts from among its
collection of 6 million objects, including works of art
from around the world, dinosaurs, meteorites and
fossils. Creative masterpieces can also be found at the
Art Gallery of Ontario, which showcases work by
indigenous and Canadian artists, European
masterpieces and cutting-edge contemporary pieces.

Parks & Recreation
For those who want to take advantage of the area's
natural beauty, take a short ferry ride to the scenic
Toronto Islands, just south of the mainland. Rent a
bike or simply stroll through the area, where you'll
find beaches, picnic areas and sports facilities, as well
as canoe and kayak rentals. There's even the
Centreville Amusement Park, which has kids' rides,
attractions and games, along with food concessions
and a gift shop.
Food & Drink
If it's culinary delights you're after, look no further
than the St. Lawrence Market. Situated in Old Town
Toronto, the market features 120 vendors, merchants
and artisans who set up shop in three main buildings.
In addition to fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and
baked goods, you can also find antiques, art exhibits
and cooking classes at the market.
If the St. Lawrence Market whets your whistle for a
shopping spree, then head to the CF Toronto Eaton
Centre, in the heart of downtown. This popular
destination has more than 250 shops in fashion, food,
housewares and electronics.
Finally, if you want to soak up the history of this
one-of-a-kind city, don't miss The Distillery Historic
District. This picturesque area has brick paved
laneways and Victorian-era buildings. It's also the
site of Toronto's first distillery, which has been
converted to house charming boutiques, art galleries
and restaurants.
