#VIAADVENTURE AAA MEMBER PHOTO A walk in the woods Of the 450 covered bridges that once traversed the rushing rivers and trickling creeks of Oregon, only about 50 remain. McKee Bridge, perched 45 feet above Applegate River, is the highest of the historic spans. AAA Member Sue Newman, who took the photo, calls this spot a half hour southwest of Medford one of her favorite places to catch fall color. "There are maples right around it and other deciduous trees that turn golden," says her husband and photography partner Jay Newman. "Plus, it's got great afternoon light." Now open only to pedestrians, the bridge was refurbished just in time for its centennial celebration in 2017. 52 V I A | FA L L 2 0 1 9 Share your adventure Post an original photo from a recent trip on Facebook or Instagram using #ViaAdventure.
