Drowsy Driving. About 96 percent
of drivers say that drowsy driving
is very or extremely dangerous,
but one-quarter of motorists
admitted to driving at some point
in the past 30 days when they
were so tired they had a hard time
keeping their eyes open.

Impaired Driving. Most drivers
(94 percent) perceive driving after
drinking to be very or extremely
dangerous. Nearly 10 percent
admit to doing so in the last month.
And while 88 percent of drivers
think operating a vehicle after taking a potentially impairing prescription drug could be very or
extremely dangerous, just 47 percent think that they'll be caught
by the police for doing so, even
though the impairing eﬀects from
medications can be strikingly similar to the impairing eﬀects from
alcohol.
"AAA encourages drivers to do
the right thing," Dodds says. "We
should drive safely whether someone is watching or not."
