AACN NEWS Dues, NTI and Certification Fees Will Not Increase AACN’s leadership announces that effective fi nancial stewardship places our association in a position of strong fi nancial health. The accompanying chart shows the association’s fi nancial profi le for the 12 months ending June 30, 2010. “We’re fi nancially strong because of the value that AACN’s community brings to members across the continuum of critical care,” says Chief Executive Officer Wanda Johanson. “Many colleagues continue to experience economic uncertainty as hospitals limit hiring and professional development. With our robust financial position AACN can support our community during the current fiscal year by not raising member dues and registration fees for certification and the 2011 National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition,” Johanson says. The fiscal year began July 1, 2010 and ends June 30, 2011. AACN continues to enrich knowledge and invest in clinical practice resources for high acuity and critical care nurses. New online review courses have been launched for PCCN and Pediatric CCRN certification. Live webinars for Adult CCRN certification debut in February. “The second year of regional summits for ambassadors and staff nurses will continue as planned,” Johanson says. The first of three $50,000 impact research grants will be funded and targeted scholarships will support member learning in health policy, evidence-based practice, manager development and communication skills. AACN also continues to promote enhancements such as digital editions of AACN publications. “Members help to maintain current dues and NTI fees by opting out of costly print editions and requesting digital only,” she says.
