CERTIFICATION NTI Your NTI Checklist Will you join us in Orlando for this year’s National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition? These tips will help you make the most of your experience. Plan your schedule. Start at Print expanded versions of the session summaries available online and bring the printouts with you. Plan your special events. NTI offers numerous off-hours opportunities to network with other nurses and national leaders. Check online at for events and activities that relate to your practice and appeal to you. Check in online for your flight. Print your boarding passes to streamline check-in at the airport. Most airlines also let you prepay your baggage check fees online. Take advantage of shuttle service. Shuttles are available from official AACN hotels — except Peabody Orlando and Rosen Centre — which are within walking distance of the Orange County Convention Center. Look for a shuttle schedule in your hotel lobby. Plan for comfort. Buy a pair or two of comfy shoes, and don’t forget to break them in before the trip. Meeting room temperatures tend to fluctuate, so you might want to bring a lightweight jacket or sweater to the convention center. Make the most of NTI with these helpful tips. Stock up on snacks and bottled water. It’s not easy to grab a snack when you’re rushing from one session to the next. Bring along nutritious snacks such as fruit, granola or nuts and a bottle of water in case you need a boost during the day. The NTI food-finder map will help you find fresh food and beverage vendors at and near the convention center. Pack light and save. Many airlines charge extra fees for checked bags weighing more than 50 pounds. Pack smaller, lightweight suitcases, and bring an empty bag to take home your impulse buys and materials from the Critical Care Exposition. Better yet, fill a packing box throughout NTI at the NTI Mail Home Service in the Resource Center, and save yourself a headache at the airport. Visit to explore Orlando beyond NTI. Whether you want adventure, relaxation or a cultural experience, “The City Beautiful” has something for everyone. Stop by the Host Chapter Booth in the NTI Resource Center where local colleagues can give you insider tips. Safe travels. See you soon! AACN BOLD VOICES MAY 2012 5
