Total exposure: 99 minutes. ▶ ▶ AGLOW IN PERSEUS Bruce Waddington Just 1,000 light-years away, NGC 1333 is a part of the Perseus Molecular Cloud and chock-full of newborn stars heavily shrouded in the nebula's dust. It glows with a total magnitude of 5.6. Details: PlaneWave 12.5-inch CDK astrograph, QSI 640ws CCD camera, and LRGB filters. Total exposure: 9.7 hours. SPARKLING GEMS Dan Crowson The pretty open cluster Messier 103 (above) is easily found about 1°° northeast of 3rd-magnitude Ruchbah (Delta Cassiopeiae, at right). Its stars include a 10th-magnitude red giant, seen near the cluster's center. Details: Astro-Tech AT90EDT apochromatic refractor with SBIG ST-8300M CCD camera and LRGB filters.
