The first scholarship awarded went to Mary Lynn
Koenig, a Boeing 777 international pilot with United
Airlines. With this scholarship, Mary plans to pursue
a master's degree in Human Resources Management
noting, " I hope to discover the reasons why there are
still so few women in this industry and to close the
gap by getting more women involved in the aviation
industry. I have been involved in aviation for most of
my life and am well respected at one of the largest and
most influential airlines in the world. I feel I'm uniquely
positioned to bring about change in the aviation
industry. The ABWA-NCU scholarship is giving me an
opportunity to research, learn, and speak about this
subject to affect change. "
Mary Lynn has been an ABWA members since 2016
with the Women of Vision Express Network located
in Kingwood, Texas. She has served on the league's
Executive Board and was selected Woman of the Year in
2020. Congratulations Mary!
