Society Welcomes Morrison
New active member Rachel Morrison, ASC has a background in photojournalism and received her master's degree
from the American Film Institute. Over the
past six years, she's had seven features play
at the Sundance Film festival, including
Fruitvale Station (AC April '13) - which
won the festival's Grand Jury Prize and
Audience Award in 2013 - Dope (AC July
'15), and What Happened, Miss Simone?,
the latter of which was nominated for a
Best Documentary Oscar and earned
Morrison an Emmy nomination alongside
the project's principal cinematographer, Igor
Martinovic. Morrison reteamed with Dope's
director, Rick Famuyiwa, for the HBO telefilm Confirmation, which earned two Emmy
nominations.
Morrison's work spans features,
documentaries, television and commercials.
At press time, she was shooting the Marvel
superhero movie Black Panther with her
Fruitvale director, Ryan Coogler. She recently
completed the period drama Mudbound,
which premiered at Sundance this past January and will be distributed later this year.
Morrison's credits also include the features
Any Day Now, Little Accidents and Cake;
commercials for clients including Nike, Foot
Locker and Gap; and additional photography on the documentaries Paradise Lost 3:
Purgatory and Everything Is Copy.

Morrison has been nominated for
two Emmys and a Camerimage Golden
Tadpole. She has also received the Kodak
Vision Award from the Women in Film
Crystal and Lucy Awards.
Roudebush Named Associate
New associate member Jim Roudebush currently serves as vice president of
marketing for Panavision, working out of
the company's corporate headquarters in
Woodland Hills, Calif. He oversees a wide
variety of projects, ranging from independent productions by emerging filmmakers
to major studio features.
Roudebush joined Panavision in
1988 while studying filmmaking at Columbia College, where he earned his bachelor's
degree and later the Distinguished Alumni
Award. After working as a 2nd AC, he
returned to Panavision and began making
his way up through the ranks. He served as
the director of the company's education
program before joining the marketing team,
where he worked with company veterans
and ASC associates Phil Radin and Tak
Miyagishima.
Storaro Receives George
Eastman Award
Vittorio Storaro, ASC, AIC was
recently honored with the George Eastman
Award at the George Eastman Museum in
American Cinematographer

Rochester, N.Y. Established by the museum
in 1955, the award recognizes distinguished
contributions to the art of film by actors,
directors and cinematographers. In accepting the honor, Storaro joins the company of
such film legends as Charles Chaplin, Gary
Cooper, Joan Crawford, Cecil B. DeMille,
Michael Douglas, Greta Garbo, Lillian Gish,
Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Martin
Scorsese, James Stewart, Meryl Streep and,
most recently, Michael Keaton.
Storaro is the first cinematographer
to receive the award in 40 years, following
ASC greats including William Daniels,
Arthur Edeson, George Folsey, Lee Garmes,
James Wong Howe, Peverell Marley, Hal
Mohr, Charles Rosher, Harold Rosson, John
Seitz and Karl Struss.
During the three-day event, Storaro
introduced screenings of and discussed his
work on the features Apocalypse Now, Dick
Tracy and Muhammad: The Messenger of
God. Throughout the months of March and
April, as a tribute to Storaro, the museum
also screened The Bird With the Crystal
Plumage, Last Tango in Paris, One From the
Heart, Ladyhawke, The Last Emperor, The
Sheltering Sky, Little Buddha and Goya in
Bordeaux.
