A different snowbound location was used for the villain’s compound, a cluster of trailers that sits on a property dotted with tanker trucks and logging trucks. “We had to be able to look everywhere at that location, and it was bordered on one side by pure wilderness,” recalls Roe. To create ambient light for night scenes, the crew positioned four Condors in a rough semicircle around the accessible side of the property, placing a 24-light Dino and a 20K on three of them and a 24light Dino and a Nine-light MaxiBrute on the fourth. The practicals motivating this light comprised “about 16 RFLs [reflector floods], mainly 300-watt, around the trailers, and six or so China hats with 500watt RFLs around the compound perimeter,” says Tickell.
