Kraus, Peck Named Associates
A native of Amberg, Germany, new
associate member Franz Kraus began his
career in 1972 as a development engineer
for television at Rohde & Schwarz Munich.
Then, he became a research associate and
project manager at the Heinrich Hertz Institute Berlin. In 1983, he joined Arri TV &
Service GmbH as a technical director; he
became a managing director four years
later. In 2007, Kraus became managing

director of Arnold & Richter Cine Technik
GmbH. Kraus, Johannes Steurer and Wolfgang Riedel shared an Academy Scientific
and Engineering Award and an Academy
Award of Merit for the design and development of the Arrilaser film recorder. Kraus is
a managing director for Arri TV & Service
and Arnold & Richter Cine Technik, and he
serves on the executive board of Arri AG.
New ASC associate Eliott Peck
worked for his father’s film-production business, helping to produce educational
movies for high schools and universities,
before landing a job at Canon in 1975. He
began as a customer-service representative,
and today he is the senior vice president and
general manager of sales at Canon U.S.A.’s
Imaging Technologies and Communications
Group and Professional Engineering and
Solutions Group. Peck also serves on the
Consumer Electronics Association’s Board of
Industry Leaders.
Angénieux Honors Rousselot
Philippe Rousselot, ASC, AFC
received the inaugural Pierre Angénieux
Excellens in Cinematography award at this
year’s Cannes Film Festival. Thales
Angénieux, a partner of the festival, created
the award to honor cinematographers
possessing “unique artistic vision.”
Rousselot received the award during
a ceremony at the Palais des Festivals. Pierre
Andurand, president and CEO of Thales
Angénieux, presented Rousselot with a
trophy created from an Angénieux Optimo
28-76mm zoom, which had been engraved
with Rousselot’s name at the company’s
workshop in Saint-Héand.
A number of actors who have
worked with Rousselot attended the event,
including Kristin Scott Thomas, Victoria
Abril, Carmen Chaplin and Jean-Marc Barr.
Thierry Fremaux, general delegate of the
Cannes Film Festival, and Eric Garandeau,
chairman of the French National Center of
Cinematography, also attended.

ASC Elects Officers, Board
Richard P. Crudo has been elected
ASC president for the 2013-2014 term. The
other officers are vice presidents Owen
Roizman, Kees Van Oostrum and
Lowell Peterson; treasurer Victor J.
Kemper; secretary Frederic Goodich; and
sergeant-at-arms Isidore Mankofsky.
Also elected to the Board of Governors were Curtis Clark, Dean Cundey,
George Spiro Dibie, Richard Edlund,
Fred Elmes, Francis Kenny, Matthew
Leonetti, Stephen Lighthill, Michael
O’Shea, Rodney Taylor and Haskell
Wexler.
“I am honored to have another
opportunity to serve this great organization,” says Crudo, who previously served as
president from 2003-2005. “Our 94-year
history makes us the longest-standing
group in the motion-picture industry. As
always, we will be aggressively promoting
our art and craft, as well as the related
interests of cinematographers everywhere.
“I thank Stephen Lighthill for his
hard work and dedication during his term
as president,” Crudo adds. “We operate in
an astonishingly fast-moving world, and I
look forward to working with him and the
other board members as we expand our
efforts on all fronts.”
Crudo is also a member of the
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences, for whom he serves as a governor
and the chairman of the Cinematographers
Branch.
