Sigma Adds Cine Primes
Sigma Corp. of America's family of
Cine Prime lenses has grown with two new
focal lengths: The 14mm FF and 135mm FF
(both T2). Like the rest of the Sigma Cine
Prime lenses, they will be available for
Canon EF-, Sony E- and PL-mount cameras.
They will also be available together as a
two-lens kit, which comes with a protective
lens case. They are additionally slated to be
part of a 10-lens set with two carrying cases
that also includes the 20mm FF, 24mm FF,
35mm FF, 50mm FF, and 85mm FF focal
lengths (all of which are T1.5).
Both new lenses offer a 9-blade
diaphragm and a full-frame imaging circle
that will cover 43.3mm. The Sigma 14mm
has a close focus of 11" with 104.3-degree
angle of view on full frame sensors and
82.6 degrees on Super 35; the 135mm
measures in at 15.2 degrees on full frame
and 10.4 degrees with Super 35. Sigma
says the lenses are capable of up to 8K
resolution.
With 180-degree focus rotation,
front filters are unified at 95mm across the
Sigma Cine FF High Speed Prime line for
fast matte-box, follow-focus and lens
swaps. Like most cinema lenses, the FF
High Speed Prime Line has an oversized
barrel with markings. They also have
matched iris, focus and zoom ring placement across the lenses, including two Super
35 zooms.

Canon Expands Camera Lineup
Canon has introduced the EOS
C200 and C200B camera models, which

are situated as a more affordable professional option between the company's C300
Mark II, whose sensor the new models share,
and the HD-only C100 Mark II.
Targeted at lower-budget users looking for higher-end features, the productionready EOS C200 is the more expensive of the
two new models. It comes with an LM-V1
LCD Monitor and LA-V1 LCD Attachment,
GR-V1 Camera Grip and HDU-2 Handle
Unit, as well as an internal 1.77-million-dot
OLED EVF. Constructed as a more lightweight system for drone and gimbal users,
the C200B eschews the rear EVF and
presents a bare-bones, mountable configuration that still incorporates the same internal features as the C200. The LM-V1 LCD
Monitor, LA-V1 LCD Attachment, GR-V1
Camera Grip and HDU-2 Handle Unit will
also be available separately.
Both models feature Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity for remote operations, as
well as an 8.85 MP CMOS sensor capable of
up to 4K DCI video capture. Canon's latest
DIGIC DV 6 image processors are provided in
a dual configuration to address the needs of
large resolution, HDR-capable image
capture; both new systems support ACES
1.0 and other emerging HDR standards.
Offering up to 15 stops of dynamic
range, the C200 sports Canon's new
Cinema Raw Light format (4K 60p/50p at 10
bit and 30p/25p/24p at 12 bit), which
provides internal raw capture to CFast cards
thanks to file sizes at roughly one-third to
one-fifth that of a standard Canon Cinema
Raw file. With 60/50/30/25/24p at 8-bit,
MP4 and MP4 Proxy capture at up to UHD
resolution is available for offline and other
editing needs via dual-slot SD cards.
(Canon's XF-AVC video format is planned for
the C200 in a future firmware upgrade.)
For single operators, the C200 offers
several other features of the Cinema EOS
line, such as Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF,
which is touchscreen-capable when using
the LM-V1 LCD Monitor. With continuous
autofocus tracking and face detection for
roughly 80 percent of the screen, focus
presets can also be programmed for automated focus racking.
Other highlights include slow-motion
capture in HD at 100 and 120 fps, Over
Sampling HD Processing to enhance sensitivity while minimizing noise, Wide DR Gamma
