The rest of the Rifa Exchange Kit line has also been expanded to add larger case options to each kit, with room to drop in one or more of the new Rifa Exchange Accessory Packs, which combine quick-change lamp heads with lamps and lamp cases. There are also two new Exchange Accessory Kits — in hard- and soft-case options — containing selections of accessory heads, lamps and lamp cases. The Lowel Rifa Exchange System is a set of four updated Rifas that replace the original models and greatly expand their versatility. IDX X5-Lite IDX System Technology has unveiled the next generation of the company’s powerful, lightweight, onboard LED camera light, the X5-Lite. Generating greater light output than the previous model, the X5 uses powerful, cool LEDs to provide high-intensity illumination with low power consumption. The X5 provides cool, long-lasting illumination for roughly 10,000 hours. Requiring 13 watts of power, the X5’s LEDs output 50 watts of 5600ºK light, and because of its solid-state technology, it eliminates the need for extra safety glass, a dichroic filter and spare filament bulbs, and significantly reduces camera-light heat. Other features include a built-in dimmer, a built-in hot shoe and an optional four-leaf barn door. The X5-Lite has a 45-degree beam angle and weighs .67 pounds. Philips MasterColor Enhances Source Four HIDs Electronic Theater Controls (ETC) has announced the availability of Source Four HID lighting fixtures with the Philips MasterColor 70-watt CDM lamp. Source Four products — with the exception of ETC’s MultiPar strip light and Revolution moving light — can now be delivered in a 70-watt version with a 70-watt MasterColor lamp. The lamp offers the same benefits as the 150-watt MasterColor, including 3000ºK color temperature and 12,000-hour life, but in a more energy-efficient, low-wattage package. Additionally, a 4200ºK lamp is available. For fixtures already in the field, a ballast-assembly change is required to use the 70-watt lamp.
