Mr. Dubray is a cinematographer
of the French school and came in to
the American
branch
of motion
picture
production
through
Pathe
Freres. He was associated with them
in Paris for four years and for fiveyears in this country. He is peculiarly jrtted to express opinions 011 composition
because
of his familiarity
with the classical art of Europe.
He
was one of the cameramen who photographed
Otis Skinner in KISMET.
He is at present connected with Director Louis Gasnter at the Robertson-Cole Studios.

"Through The Back Door"
One of the most delightful
pictures this brilliant little star
has given us, and mnch credit is
due Miss Pickford and her capable organization.
While there
is nothing unusual about the
story, it has been given thoughtful preparatiorr by Mar-ion Parrfax, and affords Miss Pickford
exceptional opportunities to display her wonderful ability. Miss
Mary has a screen magnetisma certain personality which is
short of marvelous.
We are
with her every moment - we
sigh with her, cry with her and
laugh heartily at her refreshing
comedy touches. The episodes
of the scrubbing brushes and
the trick donkey leave a lasting
impression.

Censorship Beaten in
Thirty-one States
A local producer after a nation-wide canvass reports that
moving picture censorship has
been defeated in thirty-one
states.
The states most recently repudiating legalized censorship
are Rhode Island, Michigan,
Wisconsin and California.
In
Ohio, a measure further controlling' the exhibition of pictures was defeated. Other states
which have rejected proposed
censorship measures during the
closing legislative season are
Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota,
Missouri, Montana, Nebraska,
New Hampshire, New Jersey,
New Mexico, North Carolina,
North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah,
Vermont,
Washington
and
Wyoming. Censorship was also
defeated in the District of Columbia. Governor Nathan Miller has signed the Lusk-Clayton
measure in New York state, and
