400' Magazine Now Available
For Doiflex 16
Intercinema Corporation, exclusive
distributor for the Doiflex 16mm Re¬
flex motion picture camera, announces
the availability of a 400-foot capacity
magazine for their popular Doiflex 16
professional camera.
Under development for two years,
the magazine features coaxial design
which conforms to the new idea for
camera configuration, with the raw
film stock feed directly opposite the
exposed take-up chamber. Each cham¬
ber has its own screw type cover, per¬
mitting the operator to thread the takeup roll in daylight. A detachable tor¬
que motor drives the magazine, utiliz¬
ing the same standard 8 V. DC battery
that supplies power to the camera
motor.
The magazine is firmly seated on a
top plate mounted into the top-rear
section of the Doiflex 16 camera body,
and is quickly secured with a single
twist latch. A special large footage
indicator window is located on the rear
of the magazine, allowing the camera¬
man to quickly determine the amount
of film remaining in the feed chamber.
A compact 7" diameter size, the new
400' magazine utilizes standard plas¬
tic film cores without adaptors, has no
external wiring and its coaxial design
eliminates any film load weight shift
found with common front-to-rear type
magazines.

Movie Cartridge Mailing Envelopes
Technicolor announces a new pre¬
paid mailing envelope for rapid cartridging of processed (developed) silent
8mm or super-8mm movie film. En¬
velopes, sold in multiples of five for
$7.75, include first class relu n post¬
age. Each envelope covers cartridging
of up to 50 feet of 8mm or 56 feet
of super-8mm movie film.

New Airborne 16mm Strike
Camera for U.S. Navy
Photo Sonics, Inc., Burbank, Cali¬
fornia has been awarded a contract
for the production of the U.S. Navy's
new airborne 16mm strike camera.
The camera, designated the KB-19A
Camera, Motion Picture, Strike, 16mm,
is a high-precision, intermittent, pinregistered magazine loading camera.
The KB-19A contains, built into its sin¬
gle unit construction, all the features
necessary for strike and combat docu¬
mentation photography. Automatic ex¬
posure control, overruns and varying
frame rates are just a few of its fea¬
tures. The KB-19A is scheduled for
use in the LB-18A Camera Pod on the
A-4 aircraft.
The new camera is the product of
a fourteen month in-house develop¬

ment program by Photo-Sonics, Inc.
The most unique characteristic of the
KB-19A Camera is its magazine with
an integral transport mechanism. Utili¬
zation of this magazine concept per¬
mits quick and easy changing of film
without removing the camera from its
operating station.

Automatic Focusing Announced for
Bell & Howell Super-8 Cameras
A fully automatic focusing system
for Super-8 cameras has been intro¬
duced by Bell & Howell.
Called FOCUS-MATIC®, the system
is considered to be one of the most
significant performance advancements
in motion picture cameras since the
introduction of the electric eye 10 years
ago.
Announcement was made by J. N.
Latter, executive vice president of Bell
& Howell's Photo Products Group, who
said that FOCUS-MATIC® provides the
film-maker for ihe first time with fully
automatic, accurate focusing for super
8 cameras.
Two versions of the system will be
offered, automatic and manual. Both
will be featured in cameras of Bell &
Howell's new FiLMOSOUND 8 sound
movie system which was introduced at
the same time at a special press pre¬
view.
"FOCUS-MATIC is considered to be
of special significance because most
low to medium-priced cameras have
no rangefinding feature, requiring the
user to estimate distances," Latter said.
"These guesses are usually inaccurate,
often resulting in out-of-focus movies."
The automatic version of the system
measures the distance between subject
and camera lens, then automatica'ly
focuses the lens on the measured dis¬
