More applications than for the
1966 Photokina have already been
received for the 1968 Photokina, the
"World's Fair of Photography" to be
held in Cologne from September 28
through October 6. The inclusion of
an eleventh exhibition hall will extend
the gross display area from 859,725
sq. ft. to 946,800 sq. ft. By decision of
Photokina's organizers, the Associa¬
tion for the German Photographic in¬
dustry and the Cologne Fair Authori¬
ties, the 1968 Photokina will again
consist of three parts, a commercial
section, a cultural section with exhibi¬
tions of photographs and special dis¬
plays, and a technical section vdth the
II International Congress of Photogra¬
phy and Cinematography in Industry
and Technology.
The commercial section of the fair
is reserved for manufacturers of pho¬
tographic equipment, photochemicals
and the motion picture industry. Near¬
ly all the 598 direct exhibitors and 45
other represented firms from 23 Euro¬
pean and overseas nations who took
part at Photokina in 1966 have an¬
nounced their participation at the
1968 Fair. There will also be many
new firms. The various groups of
goods will therefore undergo greater
consolidation and arrangement will be
clearer. This applies specially to proc¬
essing laboratory equipment, printers,
audio and movie-making equipment.
The suggestion is also being made to
exhibitors that they arrange their
stands so as to make a distinction be¬
tween the articles required by profes¬
sionals and amateurs.
Cologne's last Photokina was at¬
tended by 199,000 visitors from all
parts of the world. This total included
27,254 trade visitors from abroad.
Trade attendance at the coming Pho¬
tokina is expected to be at least on
the same scale and three whole days
have therefore been set aside at the
