causes a 0.2 FPS change in camera speed,
allowing manual lock out of the video
scan line when filming monitors. A light¬
weight version especially suited to Steadicam and Panaglide operation makes use

Audio Corporation announce an addition
to their product line - the TLM 50 pres¬
sure microphone with transformerless
electronic circuitry. The TLM 50 is specifi¬
cally built so the response at high fre¬
quencies becomes somewhat directional
with an increase of output. In a diffuse
sound field, the frequency response of the
microphone is practically flat. This unique
capsule design is based on the M 50 tubetype microphone manufactured by Neu¬
mann from 1951 through 1971. With its
new head grille shape and advanced elec¬
tronics, the TLM 50 represents a state-ofthe-art blending of the old and the new.
In contrast to the KM 130 and
KM 131 's 21mm pressure transducers,
the aluminum
diaphragm of the TLM 50
only 12mm in diameter and is mounted
on a 40mm diameter lucite sphere. The
TLM 50 exploits the special acoustical
pressure buildup and diffraction charac¬
teristics of a sphere. This yields a particu¬
larly smooth transition into the pressure
buildup region for frequencies above 1000
Hz and a very even rise in the directional
index as the frequency increases. As a
result, in the upper frequency range the
TLM 50's directional properties are com¬
parable to a pressure gradient micro¬
