Letter from the Editor

We are called
upon to be
Journal Board following seven years of service to the publication. Her
work behind the scenes is what allows us to recruit and work with outstanding reviewers each year. DP, you will be missed.
Diane "Daisy" Waryold and Pam Schreiber lend their expertise to
the process by reading each manuscript and developing thoughtful
discussion questions for each piece. Our copy editor for this edition,
Christine Bryant, provided critical expertise in finalizing the publication. Camille Perlman from the ACUHO-I central office steers the
ship, keeping us on course and always headed in the right direction.
Sarah McDowell's graphic design work provides readers with an appealing and polished publication.
This has been a difficult year. For many of us, uncertainty in our
work, our guiding policies, and an uncertain future have created difficult environments not only for our students but for our colleagues and
ourselves. Fundamental educational values and principles are being
challenged and questioned as never before. But our work, and the work
of these authors, must not waiver. We are called upon to be critical
thinkers, educators, and caregivers to our students and to each other.
The evidence-based research and writing in this publication is more
important than ever before. The challenges ahead may be unknown,
but the foundation upon which education and scholarship were established is not. Let us not forget why we do what we do, and most of all,
let us keep validating our work and each other in grounded research.
