The Good Words
Who doesn’t appreciate a good conversation? And when that good conversation is chock full of useful information, our appreciation only grows. Such is the reason behind the popularity of ACUHO-I’s new virtual roundtable sessions. Even as hundreds of individuals listen in online, it can feel as comfortable as two friends chatting over coffee. Best of all, there is no cost to participate. Hosted and moderated by Dr. Thomas Ellett, the associate vice president of student affairs at New York University, the series brings together experts on a variety of topics for a casual yet informative conversation about a topic before opening it up to the audience for a question and answer period. Some of the topics thus far have included the use of social media by residence life programs and “So you want to be a CHO.” Future sessions will offer an introduction to facilities-related issues, the use of assessment, managing staff of color, and great reading suggestions as well as other topics. Be sure you are signed up to receive professional development emails from ACUHO-I to get updates on dates and topics for future virtual roundtables.
