The 286-foot ship, moored along the banks of the St. Mary’s River, proved to be a unique solution closer to campus than the three hotels that were being used. The additional 110 students who still needed housing after the ship was filled up are in temporary housing on campus. The story drew plenty of media attention, including notes about the twice-a-week towel and linen service as well as the excellent view. The freshman and sophomore students who earned their sea legs are scheduled to return to campus in January 2012. The memories of their “cruise” will last much longer.
