innovation plus a two-credit-hour summer practicum. Year Two will center on the entrepreneurial mindset plus a two-credithour summer practicum. Year Three will explore leadership plus a summer course on applied ethics. And Year Four will involve a capstone project in innovative experiences. When students applied for admission to the university for the 2012-13 academic year, they had the opportunity to indicate interest in Innovation Academy. Approximately 10 percent (2,900 applicants) of all undergraduate applicants expressed interest. Admission announcements were sent in mid-February for all students admitted to either the traditional fall/spring academic year or the new Innovation Academy spring/ summer academic year, or – for a small group of students – both. Students must notify the university of their enrollment decisions on or before May 1, 2012. With the development of the new spring/summer academic year, the Division of Student Affairs initiated conversations on what adjustments were necessary to accommodate these additional students. Consideration of new approaches and services needed to be made for new student programs, student organizations and groups, Greek life, athletic events, counseling services, disability resources, food services, and housing, to mention a few non-academic units. During the traditional academic year, campus housing runs at 100 percent occupancy throughout the spring semester. As on most campuses, there is still capacity during the summer term for additional resident students. The question remains how the university will provide accommodations and an outstanding residential experience for these spring/summer students. Senior housing staff explored several potential solutions and variations of these solutions, including the construction of additional undergraduate student housing, leasing space in private developments contiguous to campus, tripling numerous double-occupancy rooms for the spring, and using existing undergraduate housing through intentional advance loading. The construction of additional undergraduate housing was not possible with only 12 months in which to work, so that option was dismissed for spring/ summer 2013. Leasing private developments
