The biggest impact for us appears to be on our balance sheet. High school band camps we’ve hosted during August in the past have been asked to change to an earlier date since the university opens sooner. This is becoming less of a problem, unfortunately or not, since local school levies have failed and the bands can’t afford a campus-based camp experience. The lighter schedule leaves us with fewer buildings to prepare for fall. We’re hoping to make up the difference with camp groups who have previously had to decline because they’ve wanted to meet in May or June. This conversation is just getting started.
