COnferenCe
The Program Committee is pleased to offer three
new session formats this year and to bring back one
popular format from last year.

new fOr 2013:
Let’s Talk About It networking sessions are a new
opportunity to engage in hallway conversation and
to network with colleagues. During sessions 3, 6,
and 7, converse for 45 minutes with fellow delegates
who share common functional responsibilities.
UnSessions are unscripted but facilitated problemsolving discussions with topics chosen or crowdsourced by the membership at the ACE conference.
Topics can be suggested using Twitter (Hashtag:
#ACEUNSESSION) and using the UnSession
suggestion board at conference registration.
Topics for each day’s UnSessions (taking place in
sessions 1, 2, 4, 5, and 8) will be communicated
via Twitter and on conference signage. UnSession
facilitators will provide a framework around which
a productive dialogue will take place, and solutions
will be generated by the participants. The group will
produce a takeaway document with key points and
conclusions.
Flip Session is a new session type for ACUHO-I, in
which the knowledge building takes place prior to
the conference, and the in-person activity is focused
on action and application. Prior to the annual
conference, registrants will review materials related
to the chosen topic (this year’s topic is customer
service) and then complete an assessment of their
current practices, knowledge, and service level on
the topic. In addition, they will review their own
positions and draft a philosophy on the topic. At the
conference, participants will (1) review the benefits
of investing time and resources in the topic, (2)
discuss the application of the topic to their areas of
responsibility, (3) create specific training techniques
and scripts based on the topic, and (4) practice
specific coaching and supervision techniques that
will support staff. This session will take place
Saturday afternoon at the conference.
And . . . back by popular demand, four RELAY
Presentations will take place during sessions
2, 4, 5, and 8. RELAY sessions consist of three
presentations that are stand-alone topics related to a
common theme.

Learning During Conference Presentations” is a free webinar
that will be facilitated by Pamela Schreiber. Attend this webinar
if you are planning on presenting at any ACUHO-I conference,
and learn the basics of what motivates adult learners. Schreiber
will also discuss the do’s and the don’ts when presenting to
this audience. Templates and job aids will be provided. Join us
