Leeds students want accommodation that is secure,
convenient to rent, and will provide them with good
opportunities to socialize with other students they’ll
be living with. The majority want to self-cater and live
in en-suite rooms, and they want living room space to
be provided as well as kitchens.
Residential Services maintains the University
of Leeds’ guarantee to provide all first-year
undergraduates and all international students
with a place in university-owned and managed
accommodation. To achieve this, the service manages
a large portfolio of student accommodation. They
work to house 4,228 students in either self-catering
flats or in catered halls, and they allocate a further
3,012 beds in six properties that it contracts from other
student accommodation providers. Accommodation,
owned by the university and managed by the service,
is spread over 12 different sites and a number of
smaller properties, both on and off campus in Leeds.
