smartphones. ASI Campus
Laundry Solutions, based
in Dayton, Ohio, recently
launched the program,
which takes coins and
cards out of the process of
doing laundry on campus.
In addition to purchasing
wash time and dry time,
students can tell if a
machine is available and
can receive texts when
their laundry is done. For

University of richmond

The Westhampton Residence Hall, designed by Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas
+ Company, and the South Campus apartments, designed by BCWH Architects,
have been under construction since February 2013 and are aiming for Silver LEED
certification. Westhampton will offer coed, suite-style accommodations with three to
four students per unit. South Campus will be a complex consisting of four buildings
and an outdoor courtyard. The apartments will offer two double rooms with four
students per unit.
millersville University

Millersville, Pennsylvania
Projected Opening: August 2014

Cost: $180 million

Millersville has embarked on a journey to complete eight new residence halls in
five years. This construction project is the largest in the institution's 157-year history
and in the end will establish 2,000 beds on campus. The first two of the eight halls
will open next year and will offer 695 beds. The halls will provide diverse styles of
accommodation ranging from suites with shared bedrooms for freshmen to private
suites with a single bedroom, a living room, and a kitchenette. Each of the new
halls will have a game room, large study rooms, and a business center. Ambling
University Development Group has been named the project manager and Benchmark
Construction has been named the general contractor for this project.
howard University

Washington, D.C.
Projected Opening: August 2014

Cost: $107 million

Howard University is building two residence halls, one serving as freshman housing
and the other as sophomore housing. Together, they will be able to accommodate
1,360 students. Both halls will have social lounges, recreation centers, and laundry
facilities.

babson college

Babson is building a new 200-bed residence hall for freshmen. This three-story
hall, designed by Sasaki Associates of Watertown, is the newest addition to the
institution's creation of a freshman quad. It will allow all first-year students to live
together on campus, thus giving them easy access to the student center, the gym, and
the library. It will also make it easier for them to complete their required year-long
group project.
