stays, which makes decisions about
lodging crucial. Brubaker suggests
that knowing who the attendees
are and what they expect is vital in
making decisions about lodging.
Mixing groups can lead to complaints
and displeasure, which can color the
overall experience of the conference,

be challenging. Do they need Wi-Fi,
air conditioning, elevators? Moore
recommends fully understanding
the potential of the event's physical
location so that you can specifically
determine what you can and can't
offer your attendees.
Last but not least, custodial and
maintenance are two vital pieces
in planning a successful event.
They are the "backbone" of the
event, according to Moore, and the
"nuts and bolts of our operation,"
according to Brubaker. They can
make or break a conference. Even
