Just in By The nUMBers 61% More than 61 percent of universities and colleges now provide robust wireless coverage (defined as four bars or more) throughout 81 to 100 percent of their campus. ACUHO-I partnered with the Association for Information Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education (ACUTA) and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) to produce the third installment of a five-year study focused on residential networks. The ACUTA/NACUBO/ACUHO-I study measured trends and key statistics in the area of residential networks (ResNet) in higher education. The findings include data from more than 400 institutions and from individuals in information technology, business, and housing officer roles on campus. The study results are designed to help provide key insights to administrators and leaders on campus as they work to address exponentially increasing demands for connectivity, bandwidth, and support services. The findings speak to current trends in higher education; institutions are increasingly exploring strategies for accommodating demand for more bandwidth, robust wireless, and mobile connectivity. The number of institutions with a strategic plan for residential networks on campus has increased since 2013, but nearly one-third of schools do not have a formalized plan in place to deal with this area. The full report of findings from the 2014 ACUTA/NACUBO/ACUHO-I State of ResNet study can be found in the ACUHO-I library. 16 Talking STick
