Competencies for New Professionals
As many of you likely know, ACUHO-I has a document about core competencies, which covers the
various subjects campus housing professionals should grasp as a part of their roles. However, no
one could reasonably be expected to know all of these things immediately, at the beginning of their
careers. So what are the core competencies for new professionals? While we don't have a specific
association-sponsored document for that subject, it has been studied and considered by ACUHO-I
volunteers and members. Here are some resources on what new professionals know, should know,
and don't know when they begin their campus housing careers.
