students maintain memories of their
on-campus living experiences as they
transition to off-campus living during
their college years and after graduation. We are an important part of that
campus experience. How often, and
in what ways, do you engage with
students, either directly or indirectly,
in your current role? Does the student experience remain the topic
that undergirds all conversations,
processes, and programs when you
meet with or otherwise engage with
colleagues? Each of us is continuing
to learn and grow as human beings
and as educators, but maintaining a
student-centered focus should remain
a priority throughout our careers. Kelly
A. Mongiovi, director of the accessibility resource center at Guilford College
in Greensboro, North Carolina, offers
this sage advice: "Develop your dreams
and you create passion. Develop
the dreams of others and you create
heaven. This is the reason why I get up
every morning and do the work that I
believe I have been called to do."
