STEPS TOWARDS BECOMING A LEARNING ORGANIZATION
DEALING A WINNING HAND
CONNECTIONS TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Connections to the environment means encouraging big picture thinking, getting multiple
perspectives on problems, and looking at how
decisions impact stakeholders. It recognizes that
our work isn't done in a vacuum. ACTION STEP:
Encourage people and committees to involve
stakeholders in all that they do. Make sure largescale changes include stakeholder feedback from
groups such as students or campus partners.
This can be taken to show that students who self-select are more satisfied with the assignment process itself
and the immediate outcomes of that process; the story
of the relationship between room assignment processes
and the broader housing experience is much more nuanced, in particular when it comes to learning related to
interactions.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP FOR LEARNING
A learning organization must have leaders who
are themselves coaching, mentoring, and learning. They should be the ones clearing the path
toward becoming a learning organization by
making sure there are support, resources, and
opportunities to learn. ACTION STEP: Have your
department/team/group complete the DLOQ to
begin a discussion of the current learning culture.
