Steph Kaneen, California State
University, Northridge

teph Kaneen is the senior community director at California
State University, Northridge
(CSUN). Earlier in their career, Kaneen
began delving into their personal identity
after facilitating a class for incoming paraprofessionals on social identity in residential communities. It was there they began
delving, personally, into the intersections
of their own identity outside of the classroom. Kaneen now identifies as a queertrans student affairs housing pro and has
been inspired to educate others on queer
issues and supporting the trans populations on campus.
At CSUN today, Kaneen facilitates an
ongoing training titled "Cissexism" that
facilitates dialogue and education around
common terms within the trans community, ongoing issues, and understanding
how power and privilege come into play
with cis folxs who work with and support the LGBTQ community. Kaneen
and a colleague have also presented their
session, "Ain't Nuthin but a Queer/Trans
Thing" at WACUHO and ACUHO-I conferences. The session educated attendees
about LGBTQ issues and how to better
serve trans students, as well as how to support trans colleagues and supervisees.

Of receiving the award Kaneen said,
"As a trans housing professional it wasn't
an identity I came into the field with,
which I think has provided much more of
an empathic understanding of the work
. . . The students need a face; they yearn
for someone that looks like them, understands them, speaks their trans/queer language and can educate folxs when their
trans/queer fatigue is a stark reality."

the ACUHO-I pre-conferences, subjectspecific masterclasses, and most recently
the introduction of the Global Housing
Training Institute. In addition, he
has developed services and resources
(including programs, professional
development opportunities, and research)
that support ACUHO-I members, the
campus housing profession, and the
higher education sector around the world.

Colin Marshall, Federation
University Australia

Laura Sanders, The University of
Alabama

olin Marshall is the director
of campus life at Federation
University Australia and has
been an active ACUHO-I member for
well over a decade. He has served on
the ACUHO-I Executive Board for more
than five years, first as the globalization
director and most recently as director for
business practices and enhancements. In
that time he has demonstrated an ability
and proven track record in connecting associations, groups, and individuals around
the world. He spearheaded ACUHO-l's affiliations with CUBO, APSAA, NZATEAP,
UCA, EUCA, and the Class of 2020. In
doing so he has enhanced collaboration
along with the profile and prominence of
all associations involved.

aura Sanders graduated with
a Ph.D. in higher education administration from The University of Alabama in May 2018, capping
off the process with her dissertation, "The
Influence of Residential Curriculum on
First-Year Residential Students in Higher Education." Her work directly corresponded to student outcomes and student
success and helped fill gaps in existing
research related to the residential curriculum in residence halls. It also helped meet
priorities for the residential curriculum at

Marshall has presented on behalf
of ACUHO-I in the United Kingdom,
Australia, New Zealand, Austria,
Singapore, the Middle East, China,
and Qatar. Much of the activity that
ACUHO-I is involved with outside
of the United States is a direct result
of his vision, leadership, and work.
