Have you ever wanted to volunteer but didn’t know your options or how to get started? Take a walk through our dental volunteer exhibit and learn about the opportunities to volunteer both nationally or internationally. This 1.5 day interactive symposium is designed to support the success of domestic and international oral health care volunteers. An overview of global oral health problems, creating sustainable development projects that fulfill needs, understanding cross-cultural communications in diverse communities, and realizing the impact of health promotion are topics that will be covered with input from the participants. Attendance is limited to 50 participants. This course will include a Thursday evening reception for attendees. Breakfast will be provided on Friday, as well as a networking roundtable lunch with volunteers from existing volunteer programs. By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 1. Identify the skills and long-term goals necessary for a successful volunteer program 2. Integrate locally specific approaches both in the U.S. and abroad 3.
