Top technologies Automated tablet press The S250 Smart has been designed by IMA to further enhance the flexibility and automation of the company’s S250 tablet press. The upper machine head can be lifted to ease turret removal and allow access to the inner part of the press, shortening cleaning times and improving flexibility. Additionally, the system’s software has been designed in a simple and self-explanatory manner. The tablet press can reach a maximum production speed of 300 000 tablets/h, and is available in three versions: Traditional, Classic and Prime. IMA Active Division www.ima.it Lubricant feeder Having adapted its sanitary pharmaceutical design twin screw feeder by incorporating a specialised gas venturi for aspiration of the lubricant direct to the tablet press, K-Tron is now able to offer the Tablet Press Lubricant Feeder. As the lubricant is introduced directly to the press tooling, it ensures less sticking of the product to the tablet press and also significantly reduces the amount of lubricant used. The system is available as a volumetric or a gravimetric model, which enables validation of product mass flow and ensures higher accuracy. K-Tron Process Group www.ktron.com Tablet testing system Continuous film coating system Designed specifically to meet the requirements of monitoring tablet quality during the production process, Dr Schleuniger Pharmatron’s 10X is an automatic tablet testing system that measures tablet weight, thickness, diameter and hardness. The machine is protected against dust and water, enabling decontamination with water or recommended solvents, and also performs well in severe production conditions. Product specific alignment and orientation is possible for practically any tablet shape as the system features a separation unit and patented computer-controlled tablet-transport positioning paddle. The system features a cylindrical drum divided into sections designated to a certain step in the film coating process. Production capacity is determined by the maximum amount of product in each section, as well as the number and duration of the individual process steps and the requested thickness of the film layer.
