peopLe Tanski Feltz Anderson Miller In early March, President Obama nominated MIT physicist Ernest Moniz to be the next secretary of energy, replacing Stephen Chu. Moniz, whose numerous roles at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology include serving as director of the MIT Energy Initiative, is a former Gas Technology Institute board member. At National Fuel Gas Co. in Williamsville, N.Y., Ronald Tanski has been elected CEO, succeeding David F. Smith, who will serve as the board’s executive chairman. Tanski, who joined National Fuel in 1979, was named president and COO in 2010 and will continue as president. Smith joined National Fuel in 1978 as was named CEO in 2008 and chairman of the board in 2010. Valley Forge, Pa.-based UGI Corp. announced that John Walsh, the company’s president and COO, has been named CEO, replacing retiring CEO Lon Greenberg, who has served as CEO since 1995 and chairman since 1996. Raise the bar. At Northwest Natural Gas Co. in Portland, Ore., David H. Anderson has been promoted to executive vice president for Operations and Regulation from senior vice president and CFO, reporting to Gregg Kantor, the company’s president and CEO. Taking Anderson’s place is Stephen P. Feltz, who had served as treasurer and controller since 1999. Moving into the treasurer slot is C. Alex Miller, who will also retain his responsibilities as vice president of regulation. Brody J. Wilson, who joined NW Natural as from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2012, was promoted to acting comptroller At Pacific Gas and Electric Co. in San Francisco, Tim Fitzpatrick, who has led marketing and corporate communications at NextEra Energy and served as an officer of Florida Power & Light since 2008, has been named vice president and chief communcations officer, overseeing both internal and external communcations as well as advertising.
