Christie took off after him on foot with Cathnott following behind in the truck. With the suspect in sight, Christie flagged a passing NYPD vehicle, and the suspect was apprehended. Within minutes, EMS workers and additional New York City police arrived on the scene. EMS attended to the injured woman and transported her to a nearby hospital; she was later discharged. The attacker was arrested and charged and is currently awaiting prosecution. Recognizing not only the bravery that Cathnott and Christie showed in their reaction to this incident, but also the way in which they carefully assessed the situation, remained calm, and acted wisely, AGA presented them with this year’s Meritorious Service Award at the AGA Operations Conference in Orlando, Fla., in May.
