The Department of Environmental Quality regulates of oil and
gas activities in Michigan under the supervision of Dan Wyant, director and supervisor of wells. Harold R. Fitch is assistant supervisor of wells within the Office of Oil, Gas and Minerals, phone 517241-1548.
The OOGM regulates the exploration and development of Michigan's oil, gas and mineral resources. The oil and gas field activities of the state are divided into five districts and one field office.

The Board of Oil & Gas Conservation is an independent agency
headquartered in Billings under the direction of Administrator
James W. Halvorson, petroleum geologist.
The Billings office is the main technical office and well data
