New Film Tackles Words That Distort Energy Debate
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-With his
new project Fractured, filmmaker Mark
Mathis reports he is asking and answering how to have a rational conversation
about pressing energy issues when commonly-used words and phrases are deceptive. Fractured follows Mathis' 2011
release spOILed, which challenges the
claim that America is "addicted" to oil.
Mathis indicates the 92-minute documentary explains why certain terms can
distort energy reality in the public mind.

"Trying to make clear statements about
energy using commonly accepted-but inaccurate-terms is like attempting to clean a
window using dirty water and a dirty rag,"
Mathis compares. "When you are done, the
view is murkier than when you started."
Mathis has launched a crowdfunding
campaign to raise money for marketing
and creating a shorter, TV-friendly version of the film.

Oilfield Helping Hands Adds New South Texas Chapter
Atlas Copco Construction Equipment
announces it has launched two light
towers: the HiLight V4, which uses four
metal-halide floodlights, and the HiLight
V5+, which minimizes operational costs
with long-lasting LED bulbs and fuel-efficient operation. The LED bulbs are
rated for 10,000 hours, Atlas Copco
says, adding that a customer with 200
light towers can save as many as 600
bulbs a year by switching from a halide
tower to the HiLight V5+. Both the V4 and
V5+ feature the company's HardHat®
canopy for extreme durability in rugged
applications, Atlas Copco says. The
company adds that with retractable, vertical masts and compact engines, the
lightweight towers have an extremely
small footprint, allowing as many as 20
to be transported on a 53-foot trailer. For

HOUSTON-Oilfield Helping Hands,
a nonprofit organization that has given
more than $3.3 million to oil field families in need, has established a South
Texas chapter, based in San Antonio. The
group says this is the organization's sixth
chapter and covers the Eagle Ford and
other South Texas oil field areas.
