Liberty Expands Footprint
By Buying Sanjel's Assets

The INEOS Intrepid has completed the first delivery of U.S. shale gas to Europe, bringing
27,500 cubic meters (7.3 million gallons) of ethane to the INEOS petrochemical plant at
Rafnes, Norway. "Shale gas economics have revitalized U.S. manufacturing. They have
the potential to do the same for European manufacturing," comments Jim Ratcliffe,
INEOS chairman and founder. He says the company has invested $2 billion to bring U.S.
ethane to Europe, including designing and chartering the Intrepid and seven other
Dragon class ships, which are the world's largest ethane-capable carriers.

HOUSTON-Halliburton's production
solutions business line now offers
Spectrum real-time coiled tubing services.
The company says these services integrate
its coiled tubing offerings with downhole
measurement tools, fiber optic sensing
and telemetry to deliver complete,
accurate and real-time downhole data for
optimizing interventions and completions.
The Spectrum suite consists of two
complementary offerings: diagnostic
services and intervention services. The
diagnostic services deliver fiber-optic
distributed sensing through coiled tubing
to assess well productivity and
completion effectiveness by identifying
fracture initiation points across the
wellbore and profiling production,
Halliburton describes. An alternative to
traditional production logs, Spectrum
diagnostic services can monitor a time
series of data across the entire wellbore as
opposed to single snapshots in time,
Halliburton reports. The company says
applications
include
determining
stimulation cluster efficiency, mapping
fractures, profiling production, detecting
leaks and assessing wellbore integrity.
Spectrum intervention services enable
real-time monitoring from a bottom-hole
assembly, with modular sensors for
measuring depth correlation with casing
collar locator and gamma ray, internal and
external pressure and temperature, tool
inclination, torque, tension, and com-

pression, Halliburton says.
Compared with standard operations
where only surface parameters are
available, this downhole insight helps
reduce operational risk and increase
precision to deliver better wells, the
company says. Halliburton indicates
Spectrum intervention services have
multiple applications, including milling,
wellbore cleanouts, fishing, perforating,
stimulation, and completion equipment
manipulation.

DENVER-Liberty Oilfield Services, a
privately-held pressure pumping services
company, has agreed to acquire the U.S.
assets of Sanjel Corporation, which
include fracture stimulation, cementing
services and coiled tubing operations.
With this acquisition of what Liberty
describes as a company with a long history
as a capable and respected service provider,
Liberty reports it will double its fracture
stimulation capacity to 500,000 hydraulic
horsepower. The company points out it also
will add two important areas-the Permian
Basin and Eagle Ford-to its existing
operations in the Williston, DenverJulesburg, and Powder River basins.
"Liberty's vision from day one was to
be the best service company in every
basin where we operate," says Chris
Wright, the company's chairman and
chief executive officer. "Our goal always
has been to be the best, not the biggest.
However, our performance has led to
Liberty becoming the second largest frac
company in the Rocky Mountain region
(by wells fractured), and we are excited
to bring our passion and vision to the
Permian and the Eagle Ford.
"We are thrilled that Sanjel, like Liberty,
has a safety record that is several times
better than the industry average," he adds.
Sanjel has entered in a bankruptcy
protection process but secured financing
to operate until the transactions close,
Liberty reports. The company says it
expects the transaction to close in the
second half of the second quarter
following customary approvals.

CentraMax® Centralizers Shine In Deepwater Well
HOUSTON-In a deviated and underreamed wellbore in the Gulf of Mexico, the
CentraMax® RT1 centralizer from Antelope
Oil Tool helped an operator reduce casing
centralization costs 60 percent.
The operator, who was drilling in 7,000
feet of water in the Gulf of Mexico, faced
a challenging casing string application that
required a deep and heavy 16-inch liner to
be run to a record depth in a deviated and
under-reamed well, AOT relates.
According to Antelope, the operator
needed to run the 16-inch casing through
an 18 1/4-inch internal diameter restriction
at the 18-inch supplemental hanger
through an 18 1/8-inch internal diameter
restriction at the 22-inch casing shoe track.

The liner was to be run to 24,000 feet
and centralized in a 21-inch underreamed
hole with 22 degrees of inclination,
Antelope adds. The liner's weight exceeded
2 million pounds, so the operator would not
be able to pull out of hole after the shoe
reached 19,000 feet, which Antelope says
made centralization even more critical.
Utilizing Antelope's CentraMax RT1
single-piece centralizer with a WearSox®
internal thermal spray metal stop, the
operator ran the casing to bottom and
achieved a great cement job, Antelope
reports.
