Landon Assumes VOGA Presidency

ABINGDON, VA.-Ian Landon of EnerVest Operating LLC was named the
new president of the Virginia Oil & Gas
Association during its 2016 annual meeting, June 22-24 at the Hilton Garden Inn
in Virginia Beach.
Landon has been an integral part of
the VOGA Board of Directors for nine
years, serving in multiple leadership positions during his time. He holds a B.S.
in petroleum and natural gas engineering
from West Virginia University, and has
26 years of industry experience.
Other VOGA officers are Vice President
Maurice Royster of EQT and Vice President Leon Boyd with Noah Horn Well
Drilling; Treasurer Lawton Mullins, NRSI;
Secretary Cathy St. Clair, consultant for
CONSOL Energy Virginia Gas Operations,
and immediate Past-President Brent
Archer, Columbia Gas of Virginia.
New members elected to the Board of
Directors are Ann Marie Gathright, Environmental Standards; Anthony Johnson,
CONSOL Energy Virginia Gas Operations;
Bruce McKay, Dominion Resources; Ken
Yagelski, Virginia Natural Gas (AGL Resources); and Shawn Aiken, Southern
Cathodic Protection.
Returning members elected to the

Energy Advocacy
VOGA kicked off three days of events
with a Board of Directors meeting that
covered strategies and challenges for the
year, noting that the "keep it in the
ground" movement continues to push its
anti-energy agenda-both legislatively and
in the court of public opinion.
The association has seen continued
growth in its social media outreach throughout the years, along with a growing list of
advocates. To further expand that outreach,

VOGA decided to launch a weekly enewsletter titled The Virginia Energy Advocate to provide its advocates with educational resources. The newsletter goes
both to VOGA members and anyone interested in subscribing. People may sign
up to receive the e-newsletter on any of
the association's websites, including
www.VaOilandGas.com or www.VaNatGasFacts.org. Links to the newsletter are
posted weekly to VOGA's social media
feeds on Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter.
The composition of VOGA's Board
of Directors reflects the entire natural
gas supply chain, and the association believes that will make the organization
stronger, more relevant and durable for
the long-term.
"Related to the diversity of the organization, our ability to collaborate and understand how all segments of our industry
ultimately fit together is more important
now than ever," Archer reflects, who
served as VOGA's 2014-16 president.
"Whether motivated by desperation or
simply by an anti-hydrocarbon ideology,
our opponents are becoming increasingly
sophisticated and bold. We cannot relent
in our efforts to educate and inform legislators and other policymakers, or we
will lose in the court of public opinion.
"Change has become a part of our industry in the past 10 years, but more recently the pace of that change has increased
noticeably," he continues. "Whether it is
increased merger and acquisition activity,
organizational restructuring, or external
changes in the market, each of our businesses and individual careers are subject
to change that is often unpredictable and
occurring more frequently. VOGA today
truly has been transformed into an organization representing the Virginia natural
gas industry, including those who safely
and efficiently produce, transport and de-
